Marimba Duo

This was a recording for two marimbas with the intention of playback on a 7.1.4 surround sound system with height channels. The mix was done with audio objects in Dolby Atmos. In the ProTools Edit and Mix windows you can see the last track is a mono summation of the entire mix going out of a bus to nowhere. The point of this track is to be a key input for the compressors on every channel, acting like a master bus compressor for the audio objects. This mastering technique I spoke about in my Masters thesis on Mastering Audio Objects.
