Cuartetango

This was a really fun recording to make. It was also the first recording ever done at NYU Steinhardt’s new Brooklyn Campus. The room is small with hardwood floors and nice and clean early reflections. In this recording, we set up a similar 7.1.4 surround sound array, in a small room for the first time. Also, around this time my ProTools Ultimate Subscription expired so I continued to do the Dolby Atmos Mixing with the Atmos panner Plug-ins in Logic Pro X. This proved to be surprisingly much easier than using ProTools for Atmos due to Logic’s overall flexibility. The tetra microphone was set up by one of my peers, I do not have the software to do the beam forming, so I omitted it from my mix.

The Piece recorded was Milonga Trunca. It was recorded in many sections which were edited into one continuous take in ProTools and then spatialized in Atmos using Logic Pro X. Because of the small room, I added a reverb Fab Filter Pro-R to give the recording a little more needed depth.
