Other Compositions

Below are several pieces that were composed during my time as an undergrad music technology and composition major at Duquesne University. You can listen to a recording or performance of each one and read along with the score as well.

Wwise and Unity Composition

Learning how to implement non-linear audio into games had been a long term goal for me. Learning Wwise was an absolutely necessary of the process. Below is a video that showcases the non-linear music I wrote for a demo Wwise Game. The game is small, but I had many challenges to overcome such as creating music for day/night cycles as well as several unique transitions between zones.

Tales from Haw Creek

Tales from Haw Creek is an ambient piece featuring samples from my best friends house in Haw Creek NC. I created a completely hand written graphic score for the piece and performed it with an ensemble for my senior recital.

King of the Stars

Audio Story

King of the Stars is a story I wrote about self discovery within the context of isolation. It follows a character who has volunteered as a space explorer as they have an encounter with an indescribable being. The experience features sound design and foley all made by me.

The Bear

The Bear is a piece for solo piano.

Growing up Makes the World Beautiful

Growing up Makes the World Beautiful is a live performance of a song off of my album Trees and Machines from Collectors Item.

Learning to Speak

Learning to Speak uses the texture of repeated strings to create a backdrop for the samples triggered with Ableton.

Two Piano “Freedom” Suite

The Freedom Suite is a collection of two pieces for two pianos. In the first movement, I used dissonance to create a captive feeling for the listener. In the second movement, one is overwhelmed with consonance and motion as if they had broken free from the last movement.

Creation 1

Creation 1 is a piece for solo piano/synthesizer and violin. Featuring extended techniques for the violin and keyboard. That’s my good friend Ian Zuber on the violin. He stepped in to help me last minute when I couldn’t find a violinist for months. He never told me he could play until then!

Denial and Isolation

"Denial and Isolation" is the first of five pieces in a set that make up "The five Stages to Acceptance of Death." I have studied the book put out by Elisabeth Kübler-Ross entitled "On Death and Dying" where she coins this term of "Five Stages." I know that accepting ones own death can be one of the most challenging things in a humans life. These songs are an effort to bring clarity into the emotions and patterns that someone might be feeling at any point.
